3D Imaging and digital xrays

Dr. David Lewis utilizes digital treatment planning to detect, diagnose, monitor, and treat dental conditions and diseases and give you the healthy smile you’ve always wanted. Using digital imaging technology, we can create a treatment plan that is specifically customized for you.

The treatment planning process involves taking digital X-rays and digital photographs.

Digital Photography & Digital X-Rays

Using modern digital photography is an incredibly useful tool for communicating with patients and labs.

During digital X-rays, wireless sensors are placed in the patient’s mouth, and our computer generates an image in approximately 30 seconds. These images can be enhanced on the computer and enlarged to assist Dr. Lewis in making a proper diagnosis.

Digital dental radiographs can be taken inside (intraoral) or outside (extraoral) the mouth.

  • Intraoral X-rays provide extensive detail and are used to detect cavities.
  • Extraoral images do not provide the same amount of detail as intraoral X-rays. They are used to monitor jaw growth, and identify potential problems in the relationship between the teeth, jaws and temporomandibular joints.

3D Imaging

To provide our patients with the highest quality of care, we use 3D imaging technology to capture detailed images of the mouth, allowing us to maintain sharp, accurate records and keep our patients thoroughly informed throughout treatment. This three-dimensional technology can provide a quicker full scan of the head than traditional two-dimensional imaging, allowing Dr. Lewis a better visualization of the hard and soft tissues from several perspectives. Collecting all of these diagnostic records helps Dr. Lewis formulate a personalized treatment plan that meets your precise needs and desires.

Benefits of digital radiographs compared to traditional dental X-rays

  • Exposes patients to 90% less radiation than traditional X-ray machines.
  • More environmentally friendly
  • Leads to early detection and more accurate diagnostics.
  • Early detection can save you time, money, and discomfort.
