Dr. David Lewis and team’s emphasis is on total preventive care for our patients. Preventive dental care requires consistent hygiene visits, regular dental check-ups, and a commitment to continued, home, oral health routines. Twice a year, you should schedule a routine dental cleaning with a hygienist, followed by an examination with the doctor. Routine Teeth Cleanings
During your hygiene appointment, one of our dental hygienists will thoroughly clean your teeth, check for cavities and evaluate your overall oral health. We will remove plaque from your teeth, especially from places where your toothbrush can’t reach, such as underneath the gum line and in-between teeth. We will also apply fluoride to help protect your teeth and strengthen and rebuild tooth structure once you leave the office.
Routine Dental Examinations
Regular dental exams allow Dr. Lewis to assess and diagnose any issues early and provide the most effective treatment in the early stages before they turn into much bigger problems. Various X-rays may be performed to evaluate your teeth, bite, and jaw. Dr. Lewis will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums, specifically looking at any potential problems identified by the hygienist. If any signs of decay or other problems are present, Dr. Lewis will recommend treatment options and make notes of anything that may show signs of needing future observation. Oral hygiene instructions will also be provided along with tips to help you care for your teeth.
